1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Multimax Synergize Limited ("we", "us"), which operates BookMyRide. They apply when you use the BookMyRide website, the customer app, or any BookMyRide service.
By creating an account or using a service you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use BookMyRide. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and should be read alongside these terms.
Drivers, couriers, truckers, restaurants and fleets also sign a separate agreement with us. If that agreement and these terms disagree on something about their work, that agreement takes priority.
2. What BookMyRide is
BookMyRide is a technology platform. It connects people who want something moved with independent drivers, couriers, truckers, restaurants and fleets ("providers") who offer to do it.
Unless we clearly say otherwise, we do not ourselves drive, carry goods, cook food or own the vehicles used. The transport, delivery or food is supplied to you by the provider, and we arrange the booking, the technology and the handling of payments through the app. Providers are not our employees or agents.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract to hold an account.
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date, including your phone number.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens on your account unless you tell us it has been compromised and the activity took place after that.
- One account per person. Accounts cannot be sold or transferred.
- You can book for someone else, including a minor travelling with an adult, but you remain responsible for the booking and for their conduct.
4. The five services
Services are launching city by city. Not every service is available in every city, and what the app shows you for your location is what is on offer.
Ride
On-demand and scheduled car trips within a city. You must give your PIN to the driver at pickup, and the trip cannot start without it. A scheduled ride is a request, and we cannot promise that a driver will accept it.
Intercity
Seats on trips between cities that drivers post on the platform. Some trips confirm at once, others need the driver to confirm. Departure times are set by the driver and may change because of road, weather or security conditions. Be at the pickup point on time. A driver is not required to wait past the published departure time.
Send
Delivery of parcels by bike, car or van. You must describe the item honestly, pack it properly, and choose a vehicle suited to its size and weight. The delivery is complete when the courier enters the delivery code given by the receiver. Keep the code private until the parcel is in front of the receiver. You must not send anything listed in section 8.
Food
Orders from independent restaurants, delivered by couriers. The restaurant is responsible for the food, including its preparation, its ingredients and allergen information. If you have an allergy, contact the restaurant or check the listing before ordering, and do not rely on menu text alone. Where the law limits the sale of an item by age, you may be asked for proof of age at delivery.
Freight
A marketplace for moving loads by truck. You post a load, carriers quote, and when you accept a quote you enter a contract for carriage with that carrier at that price. Estimates are only a guide. You are responsible for describing cargo accurately, including weight and any hazards, for lawful documentation, and for loading and unloading unless agreed otherwise. Cargo insurance is not included unless the quote states that it is. Consider arranging your own cover for valuable loads.
5. Fares and prices
The app shows the fare or the way it is worked out before you confirm.
- Nigeria. Ride fares may be negotiated. You see an estimate and can offer a fare, and a driver can accept or counter. The agreed amount is the fare.
- United States. Ride fares are fixed before you book and include any booking fee shown.
- Intercity. You pay the seat price shown for the trip, multiplied by the seats you book.
- Send. You pay the price shown for the chosen vehicle and route.
- Food. The total is made up of the food, delivery and service charges, any tip you add, and any discount.
- Freight. You pay the quote you accept.
Tolls, waiting charges or a change of destination may alter the final amount where the app says so. Figures shown on our website are examples, not offers. Taxes are included or added as the law in your location requires. Promo codes and referral rewards have their own conditions, have no cash value, and may be withdrawn if misused.
6. Payments and the wallet
You can pay by cash to the provider or from your BookMyRide wallet, depending on what the app offers for the booking. Other methods, including card top-ups, are available only where the app shows them.
- Prices are in the currency of your market: Nigerian naira or US dollars. Wallet balances stay in that currency and cannot be moved between markets.
- Wallet money is a prepaid balance for use on BookMyRide. It is not a bank account, earns no interest, and is not a deposit.
- Refunds, rewards and adjustments may be credited to your wallet. Promotional credit cannot be withdrawn.
- If you pay cash, pay the amount shown in the app. Tips are optional.
- If a charge looks wrong, tell us in the app or through the contact form as soon as you can, and we will look into it.
- We may reverse a credit that was added by mistake or through fraud.
7. Cancellations and refunds
- Ride and Send. You can cancel in the app any time before the trip or delivery has started. Once it is under way you can no longer cancel it in the app.
- Intercity. You can cancel a requested or confirmed booking in the app. If you paid from your wallet, the amount is returned to your wallet.
- Food. You can cancel until the restaurant accepts the order. After that, contact support, because the kitchen may already be cooking.
- Freight. You can cancel in the app, subject to the stage the load has reached and any terms stated in the accepted quote.
If a cancellation fee ever applies to a booking, the app will tell you before you cancel. If a provider cancels, or a service you paid for from your wallet is not delivered, we will return the amount paid to your wallet. Nothing in these terms takes away refund rights you have under consumer protection law where you live.
8. How you must behave
Treat providers, other passengers and our staff with respect. You must not:
- threaten, harass, assault or discriminate against anyone;
- damage a vehicle, or leave it in a condition that needs cleaning;
- ask a provider to break traffic law, overload a vehicle or carry more passengers than it has seats;
- send or carry anything illegal, including drugs, weapons, explosives, stolen goods, hazardous materials that were not declared, live animals without agreement, or cash and valuables outside the limits we set;
- use the platform for fraud, create fake bookings, abuse promo codes or try to get around the app to avoid its charges;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer or interfere with the platform.
You may have to pay reasonable costs for damage or cleaning that you cause. We will show you the evidence and give you the chance to respond first.
9. Safety features
The app includes a PIN at pickup, delivery codes, live trip sharing and an SOS button. The SOS button alerts our operations team. It does not contact the police or an ambulance for you. In an emergency call your local emergency number first: 112 in Nigeria, 911 in the United States.
Wear a seat belt where one is fitted, and check the plate and driver shown in the app before you get in. Report any incident to us through the app as soon as it is safe to do so.
10. Drivers and partners
Drivers, couriers, truckers, restaurants and fleets are independent businesses. They decide when to work, and they are responsible for their own taxes, licences, permits, insurance and vehicles or premises, and for following the law.
We review documents before a provider becomes active, and a provider must sign an agreement with us. That review reduces risk but it is not a guarantee of anyone's conduct or of the quality of what they supply. We charge providers a commission, which is shown to them in the app. Payouts go to the bank account they provide.
Either side can end a provider agreement as that agreement sets out. We may suspend a provider at once for safety, fraud or legal reasons.
11. Reviews and your content
You may rate trips, orders and deliveries, and send us photos, messages and documents. Keep reviews honest and lawful. You keep ownership of your content, and you allow us to use it worldwide, free of charge, for as long as we need to run the platform and to deal with safety and disputes. We can remove content that breaks these terms.
12. Our intellectual property
The BookMyRide name, wordmark, wheel device, software and site content belong to us or our licensors. You may use the app for its intended purpose, and nothing here gives you any other right to them.
13. Availability and changes
We work to keep the platform running, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error free, or that a provider will be available when you want one. Maps, arrival times and estimates are approximate. We may add, change or withdraw features, services or cities. Some areas may run in a preview or test mode and the app will say so where it applies.
14. Responsibility and liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to that:
- the provider is responsible for the transport, delivery, food or carriage it supplies;
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profit or a missed flight or appointment, to the extent the law allows;
- to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for a claim about a booking is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for that booking and the amount required by law;
- we are not liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as severe weather, road closures, strikes, civil unrest, or network and power failures.
Look after your belongings. If you leave something in a vehicle, contact us through the app and we will try to put you in touch with the driver, but we cannot promise it will be recovered.
15. Suspension and closing your account
You can stop using BookMyRide at any time and ask us to close your account through the app or the contact form. Any withdrawable wallet balance will be dealt with as the law requires.
We may restrict, suspend or close an account if you break these terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud, if there is a safety concern, or if the law requires it. Where it is safe and lawful we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the country, and where relevant the state, in which you use the service. For a booking, that is the place where the service is provided. Disputes will be dealt with by the courts that have jurisdiction there, unless the law gives you a right to choose another court.
Please contact us first. Most problems can be solved quickly, and we will try in good faith to settle yours before either of us takes formal steps. This does not stop you from going to a consumer protection or data protection regulator, or from bringing a claim you are legally entitled to bring.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service grows or the law changes. We will post the new version here with a new date and, for important changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using BookMyRide after that, the new terms apply. If you do not agree with them, you can close your account.
If part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up. You may not transfer these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them to a company that takes over running BookMyRide, and your rights will not be reduced as a result.
18. Contact
Reach us through the contact form, or through Help in the app if you have an account.
